Custom STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) and Reggio Emilia inspired posters created for WonderWell Preschool to be displayed within the hallways and lobby to serve as visual reminders for the teachers, staff and parents. They consist of open-ended questions reflective of the cognitive coaching method. I used the assigned text to develop conceptual poster designs based on the school's brand guidelines and the Reggio Emilia philosophy of learning.
The larger posters are displayed in glass frames created locally by Wexel Art Designs and installed by the WonderWell Preschool construction crew. After the founder and I discovered that there would not be enough of these pre-installed frames, I quickly worked to develop a creative solution to display the several remaining posters using wooden magnetic hangers. Designed and constructed by myself, each wood piece is cut to size, sanded and stained with a natural wood finish. Each piece was slightly burrowed out in order to embed two strong neodymium magnets to hold the poster securely in place between the two pieces which can be separated easily in order to change out the poster at any time. A turquoise suede cord is attached to the top piece of wood which is hung from a custom made wall peg constructed out of various birch tree branch slices.
